Daphniphyllum himalayense subsp. macropodum‏

Daphniphyllum macropodum is a rounded understory broadleaf evergreen shrub or small tree that is most noted for its bold, attractive, Rhododendron like foliage and lovely red stems.

Farfugium japonicum‏

Farfugium japonicum is a rhizomatous evergreen perennial with simple, rounded leaves and branched clusters of daisy-like bright yellow flowers in late autumn and early winter. It is one of my favourite woodland plants with its distinctive green and yellow blotches on the leaves.

Fatsia japonica‏

Fatsia japonica is a medium-sized evergreen shrub of open, spreading habit, with palmately-lobed leaves to 45cm in width and small white flowers in globose clusters. Fruits are small and black.

Fatsia polycarpa

A very striking species of Fatsia that is endemic to the woodlands of Taiwan. To date it rarely found in cultivation. But due to its more exotic appearance it won’t be long before it is more sought after than its better known cousin Fatsia japonica.

Hydrangea aspera Gong Shan

This Hydrangea is from a new collection from Gong Shan in China. It has red backs to large foliage with pale lilac lacecaps.
